For the upcoming 2010-2011 season, the Tri-County Saints House Program will once again be structured to broaden and enhance the instructional aspects of Youth Hockey. It is considered the next level following the “Learn to Skate/Play” program. Our House program is combined for Mites and Squirts (age 10 and under). Focus will be placed on teaching players the basic fundamentals of Hockey with the major emphasis on having FUN for all involved. The House Program is a foundation level for a player’s development in Youth Hockey and throughout the Tri-County Saints program levels. There are NO TRYOUTS for HOUSE.
House Players will be taught the overall hockey skills, game
awareness, rules and basics to develop in a rewarding environment that does not place the priorities on winning and losing.
Full hockey equipment is required: helmet with cage, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, pants, socks, skates, stick. Neck and mouth guards are recommended.
The ice times for the house league will be Friday nights or Saturday mornings and Sundays. There is a possibility for a game with a Fall River team, if an agreement can be reached between the programs. There is just one hour practice, and one hour game a week once games start. A hockey hour is 50 minutes.
We will start the upcoming season by dividing the players into two practice squads, and work on a variety of skating drills and puck control, and progress into passing and shooting skills to prepare players for the In-House season, which will begin in November.
The coaching staff will run scrimmages in October, instructing game fundamentals such as “positioning” and “off-sides”. During this time coaches will also evaluate player abilities and select teams based on equality of experience and skill, and not on competitive goals. Parents will be notified of the team their child will be on and advised of the schedule, which will constitute a practice and game per week. The TCS House Program games will be refereed, and follow a traditional 2-minute “buzzer” format.

All Teams should have a Team Manager, to help communicate with the team, receive information from the Board, and be the contact for fundraising initiatives. Head Coaches must submit the name of their Team Manager to the website administartor by October 25. If one is not named the Head Coach will be said contact. Thank you.

As with all Youth Programs, the level of success will depend on the participation and involvement of players, parents and coaches. Parents are encouraged to support the program as a “Team Manager”, as each team is required to have, or simply as a non-partisan fan of the game. Thank you again for supporting the House Program and we look forward to another fun filled season.
